Sinopec, which is known for shale gas, has made great efforts to announce the new discovery of two major shale gas fields. At the same time, Sinopec's shale gas company in Sichuan is even more boots on the ground, with a registered capital of more than 3 billion!

Jianghan Oilfield discovers 100 billion cubic meters of shale gas resources in Enshi

On January 18, Sinopec Jianghan Oilfield deployed the Hongye 2HF shale gas exploration well in the Hongxing area of ​​Lichuan, Enshi Prefecture, Hubei Province, which has been in trial production for 20 consecutive days, and the daily shale gas production has remained stable. This is another shale gas exploration well with stable production deployed in the area, further confirming the exploration potential of the area. At present, Jianghan Oilfield has submitted the first batch of shale gas predicted reserves in the area of ​​105.103 billion cubic meters.

 

 

It is understood that the Hongxing area in Lichuan has many problems such as deep shale burial depth and complex ground stress, which have high technical requirements and are difficult to explore and develop. In December 2020, Jianghan Oilfield overcame technical difficulties, and its subordinate Hongye 1HF well achieved a daily gas production of 89,000 cubic meters, filling the gap in the exploration and development of shale gas in the Permian system in my country. At present, the well has accumulated gas production of more than 20 million cubic meters, making it the shale gas well with the highest cumulative gas production in Hubei Province. Following the breakthrough of the Hongye 1HF well, Jianghan Oilfield has successively deployed shale gas exploration wells such as Hongye 2HF and Hongye 3HF. At present, the shale gas production of the Hongye 2HF well is stable, and the effect is better than that of the Hongye 1HF well, further demonstrating the good exploration and development prospects of the region.

 

 

my country is rich in shale gas resources, with huge resource potential and prospects for exploration and development. Realizing its scale-effective development is of great strategic significance to ensuring national energy security. In recent years, Sinopec has continued to increase its efforts in shale gas exploration and development. In 2017, my country's first 10 billion cubic meter large-scale shale gas field, the Fuling shale gas field, was built. To date, the gas field has produced more than 40 billion cubic meters of gas, with a cumulative proven reserves of nearly 900 billion cubic meters, accounting for 34% of the country's proven shale gas reserves. In 2018, my country's first deep shale gas field, the Weirong shale gas field, was discovered, and an annual production capacity of 1 billion cubic meters was built in 2020. In 2021, the key ultra-deep exploration well deployed in Chongqing, the Dongye Shen 2 well, produced 412,000 cubic meters of shale gas per day in a gas layer buried at a depth of 4,300 meters, marking a new major progress in my country's deep shale gas exploration field at a depth of more than 4,000 meters.

 

 

Shale gas refers to unconventional natural gas that exists in organic-rich mudstone and its interlayers in an adsorbed or free state. It is mainly composed of methane and is a clean and efficient energy resource and chemical raw material. It is mainly used for residential gas, urban heating, power generation, automobile fuel and chemical production, etc., and has a wide range of uses.

In addition, Sinopec has also made a number of breakthroughs in the field of shale oil exploration and development. In November 2021, Sinopec Shengli Oilfield made significant progress in the exploration and development of shale oil in the eastern exploration area, reporting the first batch of predicted shale oil geological reserves of 458 million tons, and preliminarily estimated that the shale oil resources in the area reached more than 4 billion tons. In December 2021, shale oil exploration made another strategic breakthrough, and a favorable area of ​​420 square kilometers and shale oil resources of 350 million tons were confirmed in the Qintong Depression area of ​​the Subei Basin.

Major breakthrough in shale gas exploration in Zhongyuan Oilfield

On January 12, the first shale gas exploration well in Zhongyuan Oilfield, Puluye 1 Well, produced 104,000 cubic meters of industrial gas flow per day during the gas test operation, and confirmed that the shale gas favorable area in the Jurassic Qianfoya Formation in the Puguang East Syncline has a resource volume of 650 billion cubic meters. This marks that Zhongyuan Oilfield has achieved a major breakthrough in shale gas exploration in the northeastern Sichuan work area, opening up a vast space for resource replacement for medium- and long-term development!

 

 

In fact, as early as 2015, Zhongyuan Oilfield launched a stratified evaluation of shale gas resources, but what really ignited the hope of researchers was the exploration breakthrough of the Pulu 3 well. The breakthrough stratum of the well and the main stratum of continental shale gas that they initially selected are both located in the first section of the Jurassic Qianfoya Formation, and are only 30 meters apart in vertical direction.

What made the researchers even more excited was that they found that the factors affecting the high production of the Pulu 3 well were relatively complex, while the Qianyi Section developed a large area of ​​continuous, low-speed black mudstone, and the accumulation mode was self-generation and self-storage, which was equivalent to directly looking for gas in the "vibrant" source rock.

On April 10, 2021, Zhongyuan Oilfield completed the drilling of the pilot section of the Puluye 1 well, and interpreted 33 meters/7 layers of fractured gas-bearing layers in the main target layer.

Taking into account the pioneering significance of the Pulu Leaf 1 well, and in order to obtain first-hand data to promote the expansion of shale gas exploration from point to surface, the Zhongyuan Oilfield decided to carry out systematic coring on the Qianyi Section, and conducted 2,388 small indoor and outdoor analysis and tests on the cores obtained. Finally, the 10-meter shale gas "sweet spot" layer with the largest shale thickness, most developed lamina, darkest color, best continuity and gas content was found, and a favorable target window for horizontal drilling was determined.

The exploration breakthrough of the Puluye 1 well not only allowed the Zhongyuan Oilfield to further tighten its grip on its lifeline, but also broadened the research horizons of domestic shale gas explorers from the perspective of terrestrial sedimentation.

In addition, in recent years, Zhongyuan Oilfield has also expanded the exploration of tight sandstone gas through the drilling of Pulu 3 well, Pulu 4 well and other wells, forming a "box-type" reservoir pattern of "upper box tight sandstone gas and lower box shale gas" in the Jurassic Qianyi Formation, with total resources reaching 773.7 billion cubic meters.

Following the exploration breakthrough of the Pulu Ye 1 well, the Zhongyuan Oilfield "pressed on the victory" and has successively deployed Pulu Ye 2 well, Pulu Ye 3 well, Pulu 7 well, Pulu 8 well and other wells, striving to make the terrestrial exploration in the northeastern Sichuan work area "shine". By the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, 115 billion cubic meters of geological natural gas reserves will be discovered in the terrestrial shale gas and tight sandstone gas fields, contributing the Central Plains' strength to securing the energy "rice bowl".

3.2 billion to register a new shale gas company

On January 13, Sinopec newly established Sinopec Sichuan Shale Gas Exploration and Development Co., Ltd., with Zhou Xingfu as the legal representative. Its business scope includes onshore oil and natural gas exploitation, mineral resource exploration, construction engineering, geological exploration of metal and non-metallic mineral resources, etc. The company has a registered capital of 3.2 billion yuan, with Sinopec Co., Ltd., Neijiang Investment Holding Group, and Zigong State-owned Assets Investment and Operation Group holding 70%, 15%, and 15% of the shares respectively.

 

 

It is reported that the company is mainly engaged in shale gas exploration and development in the Weiyuan-Rongxian block. The Weirong shale gas field is located in Neijiang City and Zigong City, Sichuan Province, and has submitted a proven reserve of 124.7 billion cubic meters. It is a landmark achievement of Sinopec's efforts to increase clean energy development, enter deep shale gas and achieve major exploration breakthroughs. The gas field has an average burial depth of 3,750 meters and is a deep shale gas field. During the development process, a series of scientific and technological problems have been overcome. At present, the development bottleneck of deep shale gas fields with a burial depth of 3,500 meters to 4,000 meters has been broken through, and large-scale and efficient development has been achieved.
